Presents!
June 30th, 2005YAY! some of my ordered components have been delivered, I've just received three IDE to SATA converters from CWS. Hopefully I'll get the other kit soon. MLXI is only a couple of weeks away so it'd be great to have my fresh new core ready by then.
Blimey these little things are expensive. I wasn't even aware you could buy them till I did a bit of a hunt around. My camera is out of batteries at the moment so I can't take any photos, but try to imagine a circuit board about 3cm x 4cm with an IDE plug on it, with a power cable and a SATA cable. That's it. No lights, no especially shiny bits, nada. And each of them cost about $29! Dag namn they better work.
The Eleventh Commandmant
June 28th, 2005I've now ordered and paid for my new parts from CPL. So I'll be donating Takhisis (the outgoing PC) to MonsterLAN for the forseeable future to act as a server.
This means ML will now have an AMD XP3000+ with a gig of DDR as a dedicated. Which I know I care about, since it's pretty damn cool to have.
On the comp front I've finally posted the comp threads ready for feedback from the attendees in the forums. I expect no changes to our setups since they've been through 3 or 4 events now and have come to a pretty refined state. One thing the people will probably change will be the maps, which means nothing really since all I have to do is change the references in my batch files. Too easy.
With MLXI - The Eleventh Commandment on in just 2 weeks, it's time to start organising movements. I have to get either
A-
a whole day off on Friday, and part of Monday morning to go by Bus. This has minimal complications and costs the least.
or
B-
Friday arvo off, and just try to go by Plane. Lots of stress, have to pack my PC better this time round. Really really fucking expensive, especially since I'll be travelling during peak times.
I'm thinking I'll just go by plane, but all the recent money spending is absolutely murdering my bank balance. I was meant to be investing some money, but I don't know how much I'll have left to do that if I keep going the way I am. But anyway, thats a topic for a different category ![]()
Replacement CDs
June 21st, 2005I've managed to lose my Hordes backup CD and it's going to be too much mucking around to try and burn off another one, so I've decided to just go and buy a whole new set of Neverwinter CDs. So I've added the platinum edition of Neverwinter Nights (original game, Shadows of Undrentide, Hordes of the Underdark) to my game order from GamePlanet Australia.
So now in a few days I'll be getting Battlefield2 DVD, NWN platinum, LOTR: Return of the King Extended Edition, & We Were Soldiers. It's just like christmas... except without the food and annoying small children.
Normality... I think its the money.
June 20th, 2005Big news, good news, etc. This Friday afternoon just gone my work made me an offer regarding the permenant position. And not only that the pay has gone up by a bit of a bundle.
MonsterLAN X.v
June 15th, 2005Link: http://monsterlan.com
X.v was just an absolute blast. For those not in the know, standard MonsterLAN events clock in across two days with an average attendance of about 150 or so. Lately it's been getting higher and higher.
Whereas the 'mini' lans that the MonsterLAN crews hold are run at cost with just 40 or so people. No comps. No prizes. Just games.
