Internet Gaming

August 15th, 2005

Here I was thinking that over the past three years, the population of online gamers could only have increased since the last time I was online with a broadband connection. Yet lo and behold, after finally getting ADSL just over a week ago I discover that online gaming is as difficult as ever.

The box of cold IS civilisation!

July 26th, 2005

Behold! I am slowly returning to a civilised life. Last night I finally got to go and buy a fridge and get it delivered. So now instead of living like some barbarian, hunting and gathering every evening just enough to live through another day and only keeping that which I could cure in salt; Now i can actually store perishables and spend time on more important things... like gaming.

So if I was to add the fridge to my list of things in my house I now have:

  • Computer with piles of parts.
  • Bed
  • Dining table with chairs.
  • Fridge

Oh yeah, if I wasn't taking weeks to do it you could almost say I was progressing. :D

More errors. More fun. Snippet of upper error. "gggg" is a successful is record pullout and sysout dump using the datasource. A second table using exactly the same principles throws the exception below;

The wheel turns...

July 20th, 2005

Blarg. Dang it, I've had to go back to basics again and naturally I've forgotten everything. So now I've got this error...

09:58:51,151 INFO [DatasourceConnectionProvider] Using datasource: java:/SCFMDS
09:58:51,370 INFO [TransactionManagerLookupFactory] No TransactionManagerLookup configured (in JTA environment, use of process level read-write cache is not recommended)
09:58:53,853 INFO [TxConnectionManager] Could not enlist XAResource!
javax.transaction.RollbackException: Already marked for rollback TransactionImpl:XidImpl[FormatId=257, GlobalId=PPDT50087/15, BranchQual=, localId=15]
at org.jboss.tm.TransactionImpl.enlistResource(TransactionImpl.java:501)

Which is probably going to take me an hour to figure out. Should only take me a couple of minutes. *sigh* Nothing ever changes.

And on the ML front big pimp Lupin is practically on (over?) the breaking point thanks to some rejects posting garbage with reprocutions they have no concept of in the feedback thread. It happens every LAN (around the wheel turns...) and I think he's just plain had enough of it. I seriously hope he doesn't decide to back it in, he's a valuable asset to the team and a great bloke. It'd be a crying shame to see him give it up.

Maybe we could just lock his IP from viewing the forums after every event? Then CQ, CP and myself could bear the brunt of the ridiculous abuse leaving him safe to recover. :D

Just a thought, the wheel keeps turning.
