Color me red and call me done
For those with reasonable monitors and an eye for this sort of thing, you may well have noticed a couple of the color-coded blog headers from the MonsterLAN blogs actually had some fairly big artifacts in them.
Follow up:
It was especially noticable in mine (on the top left, about 15px in there was a 'gash' about 90px high) and also at time of writing it's still present in the central colation blog in almost the same location.
This combined with how I didn't like how what was meant to be a crimson red seemed to appear as a more brown color on my blog inspired me to redo my header. The fact that CherryPopper put in an awesome rendered header in his blog had nothing to do with it. Not one bit *.
So I started photoshopping up a new colored header, this time with a proper gradient to provide depth and also try and keep some of the red in it.
But once that was done I had to really try to make it a bit more obvious that it was mine and not the main blog header (which is also red, just brighter). And also it needed to be something I could look at over a long time period and more indicitive of 'me'.
What I came up with was a little collage of overlaid/darklit images. My avatar, some circuitboard, Keeley Hazell (we can all dream), and a pirate. YARRR!
When you stamp the big white lettering over the top of it all then it fades nicely into the background.
* May be a complete lie.
