Normality... I think its the money.
Big news, good news, etc. This Friday afternoon just gone my work made me an offer regarding the permenant position. And not only that the pay has gone up by a bit of a bundle.
Follow up:
After speaking with some of my uni mates recently regarding what's happening with them I'm under the impression that the job-market for my field at the moment is dry. There are a lot of advertised positions for people with 6+ years of experience in everything ever devised in the history of ever and being paid a packet for it, but bugger all entry level programming work. Likewise there are a flood of guys who are fresh out of uni but with no gig to go into, so the competition for those positions that are applicable is a little fierce.
So I can see myself accepting the offer.
This is hopefully a good thing. It means a truly constant income and the solid foundation that provides. It means the house and furniture I'm buying won't have to be moved in 6 months to an unknown place. It means I can sign up for investments, contracts, and other important things with the confidence of knowing "I will be here." It's very suburban, very normal. And I think I like it.
Unfortunatly I made the mistake of letting the other guys I work with have a squiz at my offer when they asked. Now I know how bad a mistake that was. Despite the level of trust you may have with your workmates it is never enough when money is involved. Complain they did. Get a talking to I did. Stop talking Yoda like I now will.
