MonsterLAN X.v

X.v was just an absolute blast. For those not in the know, standard MonsterLAN events clock in across two days with an average attendance of about 150 or so. Lately it's been getting higher and higher.
Whereas the 'mini' lans that the MonsterLAN crews hold are run at cost with just 40 or so people. No comps. No prizes. Just games.

And this time around the mini was organised specifically so the admin team had a chance to hit our test servers with realistic player loading under almost comp conditions. And I can happily say that with that purpose the event was a total success. I got some excellent performance and configuation data out of it and now have a great starting point for really tweaking the hell out of CSS and UT2004.
The other awesome thing about mini LANs is that the Admin team can actually really get into some games. Not just occasionaly drop into a server for a round or two, but really play some games. It was really refreshing and welcome. And what made it even better was that a couple of fine individuals brought allong the Battlefield2 demo which was released only a day or so before the gig.
The B2 games played at X.v have been the first decent LAN play i've had in months, it was fantastic. Greetz and respect out to all who came allong and joined in. I think without exception everyone was friendly and happy and didn't pester the admin team about silly little problems at all. As such the whole atmosphere the superb.
