Away!
May 31st, 2005Good news, looks like a may be going to Hobart for business. That means that the company is going to be flying me from Adelaide to Hobart next Wednesday if it's decided I should go.
The good part of that is that (a) I get to see Hobart, I've never been there or Tasmania as it happens and (b) I can stop in Melbourne on the way back (Thurs/Fri) then trundle back across on Monday.
So the company may be picking up the tab for my trip back to Vic without even realising it!
The hard part comes in getting a PC onto a plane and reassembling it in a manageable state at the other end. That, and getting to/from the airport by the right times to make it all work.
Dark Life
May 31st, 2005Huzzah! In another step on the road to maturity I've now got my own place. I don't own it, but my name is on the lease. It's a small step yet remains a step all the same.
I like to think of it as a logical evolutionary progression: live with parents, college, shared rental, leased unit/appartment, ..., build own house. I don't know what would be in the '...' but the end point would be building and owning my own place.
Unfortunatly because the move in date was a little... fluid do to the previous tennants not knowing which way was up, I didn't connect any utilities. I figured there wasnt any point paying for their power, water, gas, etc. But of course as a result now that I'm actually in the place it means that I don't have any utilities either!
So last night I spent in the dark with no power for my PC (*sob*) or for heating. And for those not aware, living in the desert regions of SA is cold... really really fucking cold.
EDIT:
Oh and as a result we now have a pleasant by-product. That being:
Own Place + Income + ADSL Enabled Exchange = Personal ADSL Connection.
It's still on the way but the barriers are falling quickly. More news as it occurs.
