One of those, two of them and a big one of those thanks
The gigabeast lives.
Well finally after much torture my new pc is up and running.
Basic specs are.
Amd Dual core. 3800
Gig of Kinston Ram
Gigabyte M55 SLI 4 Mobo
2 x Gigabyte 7600GT’s
200g Sata II
Audigy 4
And a big ass Gigabyte Aurora.
Now on with all the problems.
Once it was home it was time to put it all together and get into some SLI heaven.
Then the shit hit the fan.
Follow up:
After about 5 mins, it crashed, and then it did it again and again. So after a bit of thought I decided that it was a faulty something. The problem was that I had nothing to swap it with, to find out.
So back to where it came from for them to fix it. Next thing I know I get a phone call telling me it’s a windows error I need to re-install windows and donate $50 for the privilege of them doing nothing. So I argue the point that it’s not windows as it does it when running knopix. So after about another hour I get another phone call and they tell me that it has a faulty MOBO and there is no charge. So I go off and pick it up, get home plug in and this time I get 15 mins before the exact same thing happens. So I re-install windows just to be sure, install the drivers off the disks, do no updates and the same thing happens. By this stage I’m fairly over it and ready to just get a refund and start again. But I decide to give them one more chance to fix it. So after 2 days of them doing what ever they did, they call me and tell me its bad memory. So I head back again and make them run it in front of me to be sure. Happy I head for home. 1st thing I do is check the serial numbers with the boxes that I have and I find that not one of them matches. So basically they replaced everything in the hope that they could find something. After me crapping on a bit about the time I’ve wasted they decide to give me a discount on the whole system.
So at then end of it I only went $20 over my $1000 budget. But it caused me a lot of pain.
So now I have all the goodness that comes with SLI. That being the lack of dual monitors.
But I guess it does perform that little better than the old system.
I'll stick up some pics of the thing soon.
