Need for Speeds least wanted.
Well I’ve had my hands on the latest need for speed for a few days now, and I’m still not sure what to make of it.
It seems that EA have cashed in on the franchise and not really put much thought into the game.
Its basically underground meets hot pursuit, well kinda.
The story is the same old crap, you loose your car to some dude and you have to work your way up through the ranks to get it back. So basically it’s the same old thing, start with a basic car win races, get money and upgrade the car, or get another one. The only new feature of the game is the police chases, and these don’t offer much of a challenge. It’s as simple as driving around in circles and smashing into things. The game feels a lot like burnout.
Now for the problems with the game.
It seems that they have somehow managed to get the cars to produce their own NOS supply. In other words it somehow replenishes its self after a short wait. I find it amazing that in a game the believe you have the technology to not only produce the gas but also compress it on the fly. A outstanding feat if I do say so myself. It also seems that they still haven’t fixed the problem of the gas leaking into the cabin as it still has some weird effect on your vision when you use it. (Although all the gas does in real life is make you laugh, I guess enough of it may effect your vision)
On the plus side it seems that you no longer have to add a whole bunch of ugly crap to get “respect” from you fellow competitors to be able to race them.
It also seems that the mods are slightly more realistic. No longer does a exhaust change net a huge performance change.
As far a game play goes, the only incentive to play it is to get the better cars, the only problem is that by the time you get that far the car you have is just as quick.
Graphically the game is nothing special, it runs fine on my machine so it’s not too graphically intense.
Over all I give the game a 5/10 for graphics, 6/10 for game play, 5/10 for the car selection, and a 11/10 for wank factor.
