EA is the Devil
April 6th, 2006EA just keep stooping lower & lower in their strive for cash. Not only are they making their employees work their asses off for little cash & not compensating them for the extra hours they put in. Not only are they releasing crap games full of bugs then very very slowly releasing patches to sometimes if your very very lucky will fix issues, now they are screwing over Xbox 360 owners.
From Ars Technica:
I reported before how I think it's in pretty bad taste when EA spams you simply for playing their games. Well, it goes a little bit deeper than that. EA has access to all of your Xbox LIVE account information, and that includes your credit card information. Not comfortable? Of course not. They don't seem to have a lot of morals about abusing their access to your information.
Usually with this sort of thing you can just opt-out. Annoying, but you get used to this sort of thing. Not EA though. If they can't email you about whatever they want, you don't get to play their games. Paying for them isn't good enough, they need to be able to annoy you as well. If you opt out of their email system they shut down your access to playing online.
Just keep in mind what you get when you buy an EA game for the Xbox or 360 to play online. You'll be getting servers that aren't nearly as stable as MS's. You'll be signing up for EA's emails with no possibility to opt out. This is how they thank you for your business.
I'm so sick of these guys screwing what IS a great industry. Knock this SHIT OFF EA.
EMI & screwing me over
April 1st, 2006This is the "feedback" i gave to EMI after getting Ben Harpers latest CD (which is great by the way) and wanting to rip it into my itunes collection for listening on both my xbox & ipod and i find they have now added OS X copy protection.
I am sick & tired of the copy protection shit stopping me from ripping the CD's onto my ipod. I brought the cd's why can't i use them how I want. I am now currently getting around your copy protection (quite easy) on the cd's i just purchased (ben harper) just so i can get them in the format I want (itunes quality sucks). You clueless dumb-asses i'm glad the labels are dieing and bands like the Artic Monkeys have proven that labels are now pointless, greedy middlemen doing nothing but destroying music for everyone. Congratulations on killing your company & the label industry i will be celebrating the day soon i'm sure.
I support BANDS not greedy lawyer filled companies like yours, now hurry up & go out of business.
Have a nice day
After all that crap i ripped it using the XBOX Media Center CD ripper. Worked a treat now i have MY CD's in the format i want. Stick it to the man and support bands not greedy middle men.
Jet Setter
March 20th, 2006I just got certified for Solaris 9 and the very next job I get is to do an upgrade from Solaris 8 to 10. So its off to the deep end again for me to see if I sink or swim. After doing some googling and a practice run on a server in the office I think I know enough to "wing it". I jump on a plane & head on over to the exciting city that is Adelaide. Just my luck too, all the other guys get sent to Sydney, Brisbane even Fiji and my first trip is to Adelaide!!!
Finally Certified
March 9th, 2006After a day of cramming as much info into what little brain cells I have I'm finally certified to do my job
.

Back to the future
March 1st, 2006Yesterday while working in one of the city telephone exchanges i was killing some time waiting for a system to finish booting so i went for a walk around the exchange floor. In my mini adventure i stumbled across this particular old gem...
